What To Do During A Boring Summer

What To Do During A Boring Summer

Everyone has been waiting all year-long for the last day of school.  No more homework, exams, and tests to worry about.  However, when summer break finally arrives, you realize you have nothing to do.  You have weeks and days of no school, but you aren’t sure what you should do with all this time.  You want to do something easy, but you aren’t sure what to do.  Does this sound familiar?  If so, here are some easy, but productive ways to make the most of your summer (without getting bored).

1. Go outside

After staying home all day, it is good to take in some fresh air.  There are many activities to do outdoors, including, biking, scootering, walking, and exercising.  You can also take your summer work outside to do, meditate, and read outside.  Doing so will improve your mental and physical health.  You could also play outdoors with your friends.  This is good for mornings, when the temperatures are not very hot.

2. Learn A New Language

Something I have found time-consuming is learning a new language.  There is no time during the busy school year to learn new language, so during summer break is a great time to start.  Learning a new language helps you learn about the different cultures throughout the world.  Also, learning a new language during the summer will help boost your brainpower, which is especially ideal during the summer.  You can use this website, Duolinguo, to learn a new language.  You can easily download and create your account, and the best part is, it’s free!

3. Start a Blog

It is scientifically proven that writing makes you smarter.  Instead of always reading blogs, have you ever considered writing one?  Writing a blog is not like writing an essay during school, instead it can be about anything (hobbies, places, etc.)  It is very simple to create a blog, just write about a topic or theme you are interested in and do this a few times per week.  This is another great way to keep your brain working during the summer and you never know, it could end up with more views than you think.  If you have never written a blog, try starting with KidsKud.  KidsKud is a great kids-approved website that can be used by anyone.  This is also very easy to create an account to start writing.  Just think of a topic and have fun writing!

4. Baking

Baking is a very fun activity that is great for the summer.  You can bake muffins, cupcakes, cookies, etc.  It’s ok if you don’t have much experience in baking, you can use easy recipes from boxes, that already have most of the ingredients.  Or you can experiment with your own ingredients and create your own recipe!  Maybe you can try baking from scratch.  Baking also encourages learning skills throughout the summer.  It is said that imagination is required more the precision.  The best part about baking is you can eat it afterwards!

5. D.I.Y

Doing D.I.Y’s can be very fun and perfect for the summer.  You can try making your own clothes and projects.  D.I.Y projects are perfect for solving summer break boringness.  Some D.I.Y crafts you can make includes, a cardboard yarn ornament or make a D.I.Y clouds in a jar.  You can also do D.I.Y science experiments, such as inflate a ballon using baking soda and vinegar.  Be creative and come up with any D.I.Y to do during the summer!
