Ways to celebrate Halloween this year – safely

Halloween is a holiday which all kids love, like trick or treating, getting lots of candy, and showing off the coolest costume. But this year, we will have to celebrate it in different ways, ways that we have never done, and ways that some people may not even like. But don’t let that bring your halloween spirit! We can still celebrate halloween, you know? So if you’re feeling up for it, scroll down to see ways to celebrate.

1. Trick or treat scavenger hunt

If you’re not going trick or treating outside this year, don’t worry, because you can have a trick or treat scavenger hunt – just at your house.

To do this, have your parents hide candy all over your house, with clues for each pile of candy. Then, split up into teams, depending on how many siblings you have(if you are an only child, you can zoom with your friends and have your friends parents do the same thing). After that, then you can start the game. The first team to find all the candy first wins! If you want, you can play several rounds.

2. Have a halloween movie night marathon with your family.

You feeling spooky enough to be frightened? If so, you’re up for a Halloween movie night marathon! Duh – duh -duh.

To do this, have you and your family sit around your TV and select your movies that you want to watch. Since it’s halloween, I would recommend scary movies that you would not usually watch, but it’s up to you. Either you can watch a super long movie or watch back-to-back movies and go to bed having a spooky spirit! Who knows? Maybe you’ll be laughing your head off or be a little scared.

3. Have a halloween themed dance party

If you want to jazz things up a bit and get in the dance beat, a halloween themed dance party would be just for you!

To do this, you can either zoom in with your friends or be with your family. Try to select either a couple, or various number of songs(I would prefer spooky or upbeat songs) to dance to. Before you start dancing, make a set of rules that you can either do a freeze dance(that’s when you dance and then when someone stops the music, you have to be still), or a thing where you have to dance until you can’t stop, or even try to do a thing where you have to do a certain type of dance move. Then you can get the party started!

4. Have a pumpkin carving contest

If you want to be in the pumpkin carving mood and carve, this pumpkin carving contest shall be great for you!

To do this, first get a certain amount of pumpkins(depending on the amount of people in your family)at a pumpkin patch or at a store. I know if you live in Potomac, like me, you can go to Butler’s Orchard, Whitehall Farms LLC, or Jumbo’s Pumpkin Patch, just FYI(for your information). Then, split up into teams. Then you can start carving! You can carve your pumpkins into any face you like. Maybe you can do a scary face, cute face, or even a happy face.

Things to keep in mind

If you are doing a outdoor celebration or a celebration with friends, keep this in mind:

  • Make sure to stay home for a long time after a celebration with friends
  • Keep yourself healthy to prevent Covid 19 outbreaks
  • Wear a mask if you are with others
  • If you are quarantining with someone, make sure you know that doing this is a higher risk of getting the coronavirus
  • Keep a good distance away from others(6 feet is preferred)

Have a great halloween and stay tuned for my next blog! Stay safe and be healthy!
