Dulles Airport
One day my mom woke me up at 4:30 am. As soon as she woke me up I knew exactly why. She woke me up for our trip to the Dominican Republic! “I’m so tired just 5 more minutes?” I said. She said, “ok”. After I slept for 5 more minutes she woke me up again. I got up, brushed and a
te my breakfast. Our ride to the airport was about an hour ride but we finally made it. It was bright outside. We were going with our friends so they arrived too. One of our friends, who was coming, is another author in kidskud: Anshul (a.k.a. legomaster) .
We put our bags on the conveyor belt and then we went to a lounge. It was called the Turkish Lounge. We rested there for a while then we went to our gate. It turns out that our flight had been delayed for maintenance to 9:30 am. We waited and waited. Anshul and I played a game of Go Fish, it was really fun. When we finished I started to read my Harry Potter book, I read 1 chapter and stopped.
Then we got an announcement. We all hoped it was for boarding to start but no. It was an announcement that our flight got cancelled. So we had to go to another gate and now boarding was at 12:40 pm. We went to British Airways Lounge rested there for a bit and then went back to our gate. Finally boarding started!!!
Dominican Republic
The plane ride was pretty short. I read and I played with Anshul. When we reached the airport we went through immigration, we got our bags and got into a bus to our hotel. Our hotel was nice and it was called Paradisus Palma Real. We got our wristbands and went to our rooms. My dad and I changed into our swimsuits and went to the beach. There was a red flag up so we could not go in. The pool was al
so closed. We arrived at the Dominican Republic too late! then we went to a buffet for dinner and went to our rooms to go to bed. Anshul wanted to sleep over, so he did.
In the morning when I woke up Anshul was gone! But my mom said he left for his room. In the morning we went to the pool and we played in the Jacuzzi with my torpedoes, went to lunch and then after lunch we saw that there were paddle boats. People were paddle boating in the pool and it seemed fun so I tried it. It was easy to paddle! After that we went to our rooms changed and relaxed till dinner. The next few days it was the same schedule but no paddle boating : (
Parasailing
On Tuesday I woke up really early for Parasailing. I couldn’t wait! We took a bus to the place and got in a motor boat that led to another motor boat. I went parasailing first and I was kinda hoping to see someone else do it. I went with Anshul and my dad. When we were high above the ocean, I couldn’t believe I thought it was scary it was super cool. After parasailing, we went back on to the boat, it was kind of scary landing, but overall was a lot of fun.
Then we went back into the motor boat and it took us to another boat. On that boat I went snorkeling in a coral reef with tons of sea urchins. I saw so many beautiful fish! After that we went back onto the boat and we went to a sandbar. I collected a lot of shells and then we went back to the beach. We had lunch, went to the pool and headed back to our room, relaxed till 7:00 pm and got ready for the evening.
The Last Day
The next day was the last. First we went to the ocean. we went in deep. The deeper we went the clearer the water was so I decided to go and swim down to find some coral because Anshul found some. It was a red piece of coral. I ended up finding nothing. After that we went to the pool, ate lunch, went back to the pool and got out. Then I went for a painting class with Anshul. We painted a sunset because the instructor showed us how to. All of us went back to our rooms after that and we waited till 7:00 pm for dinner.
The Journey Back Home
The next day we were leaving so we went on a bus to the airport. The airport was small. We relaxed in the lounge for a bit and then went to our gate. This time we arrived back at Washington at 8:00 pm. When we arrived back home it was about 10:00 pm. That’s where our journey ended.
