The Original Pokemon
February 27 1996. This was a very important date for Pokemon players. Pokemon was released onto the Nintendo Game Boy for the first time. I never actually played Pokemon when I was younger so I didn’t really think I would enjoy Pokemon Go. Boy was I wrong. The game had me on the edge of my seat. It was pretty easy to catch Pokemon and evolving them was even more fun.
Have you ever been in a situation where everyone around you is on their phones? I have and trust me it is not fun. That’s one of the problems with Pokemon Go that I dislike the most. This game is dangerously addictive. Which isn’t necessarily a good thing. But people don’t seem to notice and it’s still on the top charts either way. Since there weren’t many Pokemon left to collect I got bored with the game after a few days. Although this game does encourage walking there is also a lot of sitting down and waiting.
I for one don’t like waiting but many people disagree with me on that. So don’t take my opinion for granted. There are lots of Pokemon but it’s extremely time-consuming to just wait for one to show up on your screen. Walking is strongly encouraged in this app, which I appreciated because of the growing problem of obesity. So there are both good things and bad things, but the worst things have always been ignored.
What is the Cost of Success?
Ever since Mid-July 2016, Pokemon Go has been the top game on the app store and the player stats are off the charts! The estimate for the number of daily users is 9.5 million people! By partnering up with Google maps, Pokemon Go gives trainers a whole new world full of opportunities. That definitely makes this game seem like a huge success. But the road to success always has a lot of bumps, and this road might just have too many.
There have been stories all over the news regarding the problems that Pokemon go has caused. Some are minor problems but most are major catastrophes. Even if you still want to play Pokemon Go, remember to stay safe. Pokemon Go has been driving the world crazy!
The stereotypical teenager would always be on their phone. Some people would be so addicted to it that it would be normal for them to bump into polls and trip due to their lack of attention to their surroundings. That stereotype has unfortunately become reality with some many Pokemon Go-ers. There are reports of accidents due to Pokemon Go causing a distraction to the driver and therefore resulting in a disastrous accident. Sadly there have been several cases very similar to this one.
What Went Wrong?
Now people laugh about the past incidents that may have threatened people’s lives and reputations but that doesn’t mean we can just forget about what really took people’s lives and reputations.
Two Canadian teenage boys illegally crossed the border while playing Pokemon Go into the United States. A police officer caught them wandering but didn’t press charges since the boys clearly weren’t aware of their surroundings. Talk about an obsession.
Two men fell off of a cliff while playing Pokemon Go in Encinitas, California. Even thought there was a strong metal railing to keep people from crossing a certain safety line they crossed it anyway. Both of the men who were only in their early twenties. Is a Pokemon really worth that much?
So what do you think, is it Pokemon Go or No Go?
