How Not to Destroy Your Phone on the Very First Day

phone#2

What is the the number one thing that kids are into these days? Sports, kinda. Books, nope. Electronics, Oh Yeah! So just imagine what your reaction would be when you finally get your own phone. Kaboom! Mind Blown! Anything along that line really.

But what kids really don’t understand is that getting a phone isn’t just another electronic that you can play with and throw around. It’s yours and is therefore your responsibility. Now how does that sound. Not so Kaboom right?

Kids tend to get super excited when they get new things. Especially when it has a touch screen and games on it. But sometimes a label doesn’t determine everything. Of course it’s “your” phone. But doesn’t mean it’s only yours. Like “your” house, and “your” car.

A phone is a privilege and an opportunity to prove to your parents that you are responsible and grown up. So ruining that chance won’t be so great for you, your parents or anyone. So here are a few tips to make sure that you don’t destroy your phone on the very first day.

Planning Your Phone Protection

Sometimes getting a bug or a virus on your phone isn’t under your control. But what is under your control is keeping your screen from getting cracked. When I first bought my iPhone 6, I had to get both a protective case and a screen cover to prevent cracks and chips.

The case I got was a Speck case. But there are many other protective cases out there like Otter Box and Lifeproof that also do the job just as great. For swimmers or anyone who might bring their phones near the water a lot I would suggest that you buy a waterproof case to prevent and accidents regarding your phone.

Screen protectors are a must need. When you go to the store to buy one the sales person will automatically try to sell you the most expensive screen cover available. Don’t buy it! Due to past experiences I now know that glass screen covers are both a waste of your time and money. They are the most expensive covers out there and they crack way more easily than the other ones. I highly recommend the plastic ones.

Depending on your opinion you could consider a warranty plan. That way if your phone ever gets lost or is stolen it will be replaced. But they are really expensive and sometimes they won’t be used and will end up as a waste of money in the end. Which really wouldn’t be the best thing for your credit card.

Advertisements and Applications

What is the very first thing you plan to do when you get your hands on a new electronic device? Games!

On an apple device you can’t install any games without having an apple ID, and you also can’t have an apple ID without credit card information. Giving kids access to a credit card is a big deal. Especially since it will be your phone you will have to know your own password. Which means you could potentially spend $200 on Apps, but will you?

Make sure you get your parent’s permission before you download an app. Sometimes you’ll end up paying for something without knowing it. If an app says that it has in app purchases then keep a look out for them and try your very best to avoid them.

Never ever ever (ever) click on advertisements that pop up on your phone screen while you are on a website if it looks suspicious. Actually, don’t click on it at all without your parents permission. Advertisements can give your electronic device a virus. Some bad websites can do that as well. So be sure to steer clear of those two things.

There isn’t much that I can say other than that. But this phone is yours it holds a whole world of possibilities and takes just as much responsibility from you. So make the right choices and take care of it. After all it is yours, isn’t it?
