Inmarsat Satellite Launch

This blog is about the Inmarsat launch. The date of this launch was on May 15 2017. The time of the launch was 7:20 pm. The rocket used was Falcon IX. Inmarsat is a communication satellite and took of from Kennedy Space Center and the state was Florida.

Inmarsat

The rocket was very thin and used a lot of power. If you go to Kennedy Space Center and go on the bus tour you will be able to see the launch pad and learn about it. There is a tank above the launch pad which holds water that releases seconds before launch so that the water absorbs the sound wave energy and if there was no water the rocket and some equipment might get damaged.

Kennedy Space CenterI went to Kennedy Space Center and saw all of the launch pads on the bus tour even the one used for the Inmarsat launch and the one NASA[National Aeronautics Space Administration] is building for the mars rocket. Inmarsat even has it’s own website! The launch was at sunset. It takes 24 hours to get the rocket from the hanger to the launch pad! Falcon IX flew toward the ocean for safety reasons. Falcon IX took 5-10 minutes to get to space.

Inmarsat is a really cool satellite and so is Falcon IX. When Falcon IX was approaching earths atmosphere it activated stage 2 burn and it really used a lot of fire power. Stage separation happened a few minutes after stage burn and it happened in space!

The rocket was very tall and when the rocket took off there was a lot of smoke. Under the launch pad there is sprinklers for the same purpose as the tank. Starting at 10.7 km it started flying sideways. Inmarsat and Falcon IX are 2 really interesting things. That is the end of this blog and if you want a video click the link.
