The Incredibles 2, Was it Worth the 14 Year Wait?

The Franchise

I’m sure that by now almost everyone has heard of the billion dollar huge movie franchise that is the Incredibles. The first movie came out in 2004 and created a pretty big wave in the movie industry seeing as it won 2 oscars the following year. Before you knew it there was everything from the incredibles themed coffee mugs to alarm clocks. After the movie released and became a huge success, Disney Pixar released a short film called Jack Jack Attack as a small spin off of the incredibles. People were left in the dark for 14 years about the next movie. Then completely out of the blue on April 13, 2018 Disney Pixar released a trailer for The Incredibles two.

The Incredibles

Both movies were set in a world where superheroes lurked around every corer saving people and stopping evil. Due to the large messes and casualties created by the villains and the superheroes that try to stop them, the government enforced a law making super powers illegal. All superheroes were forced to live a normal and provincial life without their powers. In this movie you are introduced to the Parr family:

  • Robert (Bob) Parr – who is really Mr. incredible and has super strength. He gets married to Elasti-girl.
  • Helen Parr – is secretly Elasti-girl and she can stretch her body out like a rubber band, hence the name. she is married to Mr. Incredible.
  • Violet Parr – Is their oldest kid and only daughter she has the power of invisibility and can make indestructible force fields.
  • Dash Parr – Their second oldest kid, he has super speed
  • Jack Jack Parr – The baby, his powers are unknown in the first movie but at the end of the movie some freaky things start happening.

The first movie highlights the struggles that the Parr children went though, having to hide their true selves from the world. Then suddenly when their parents are in trouble it’s up to the kids to step up and do the saving before they even learn how to control their powers. The first movie is all about family and embracing who you really are. However the law that superheroes are illegal still stands and that conflict is never resolved in the first movie. Which brings us to the sequel…

The Incredibles 2

Was it worth the wait? Definitely

The second movie is based around trying to get the law that super powers are illegal uplifted. The Incredibles are faced with many challenges along the way that really tests their strength as a family. This movie combines comedy, teenage drama, action, and heart warming moments into a beautiful harmony that the entire family can enjoy. With a brand new super villain, a baby with uncontrollable super powers, and a hopelessly inept stay at home super dad, it’s a movie that you absolutley don’t wanna miss.
