The Terrible Two – Who Are They?
The Terrible Two is one of my favorite books in one of my favorite series. This is the first book, and by far the best. The Terrible Two are two kids who are pranksters. Miles came from a school where he was famous for his pranking, but he had to move to another town called Yawnee Valley. The guy with the sash that says “SCHOOL HELPER” is Niles.
How Miles and Niles Met
When Miles moved to Yawnee Valley, he started going to a school called Yawnee Valley Science and Letters Academy. Once Miles got to school, he and everybody else saw a yellow hatchback parked on top of the school steps. Since most people had been to this school before, they had recognized that it belonged to Principal Barkin (the principal of Yawnee Valley Science and Letters Academy). Miles was confused, because this was something he would do. Yet, he had not done it! The principal came outside and saw the car. He was infuriated, and decided to let the students walk through his car to get into school. Principal Barkin thought Miles would have done it since he was the “New Kid”. He asked him a ton of questions, and also asked him if he had a partner. Miles said no, and Barkin partnered him up with the supposed “School Helper”:Niles.
How They Formed The Terrible Two
Miles had been thinking up a prank ever since he moved. He would send out flyers about Cody Burr-Tyler’s birthday. Cody wasn’t a real person, so when everyone brought the gifts, he would tell everyone he was a prankster, and take all the gifts. But the word for the party spread too much, and Principal Barkin came too. Just when Miles was taking the gifts, Cody Burr-Tyler arrived. This was impossible though, because Miles had made him up! When Cody left with all the gifts in a limo, Miles found a rubber chicken. It had a message on it. It said to come to the pasture at sunrise. Miles came, with the chicken. There, he saw Niles. He told Miles about how he saved the prank, and how pranking isn’t about glory. Miles disagreed, and they went to war. A pranking war. Eventually, Miles surrendered and decided to be a part of the Terrible Two.
Their Famous Prank
If you didn’t know, April Fools Day is a national pranking holiday. Miles and Niles came up with a marvelous prank. They would lure all the cows in town into the Yawnee Valley Science and Letters Academy. Cows can walk up steps, but not down, because of the way their joints work (true fact). Using this, Miles and Niles decided to put cows all over the school, including up the stairs. So, on April 1st morning, before school started, they put all the cows all over the school. Principal Barkin had come from a long line of powerful principals, and none of them had EVER canceled school before. But on that day, he saw the cows. He didn’t know what to do, but cancel school. But he could not do this, because he would bring shame to his family, but he did it anyway…
