Sammy Keyes and the Cold Hard Cash, by Wendelin Van Draanen, is an amazingly written mystery book.
Sammy Keyes
Sammy was begged by a dying man who she scared to death to chuck 3 bundles of cash off a railing. Immediately after she did she fetched it out of the bushes. With the money she bought Hudson a 500 dollar present, herself a swimsuit along with two more for Marissa (she got the same bathing suit as Sammy’s enemy, what a coinkydink!), slipped 120 into “grans” purse, and an entire granny super spy outfit to spy on a very strange man who seemed “interested” in their whale of a neighbor. Sammy who could not help but snoop soon found out the man knew something about the money. She was scared, did he found out that Sammy had the money? What might he do to get it back?
A few things that I like about Sammy Keyes and the Cold Hard Cash, by Wendelin Van Draanen, was that even when Sammy is a Detective she mostly plays the role of a regular teenager, by helping her friends through problems, getting angry at her mom, going to pool parties, having a crush on casey, and finally having awesome friends to back her up ( that includes police officers!). I think that the fact that Sammy’s regular life stories and challenges are included in this series is what makes the books so interesting to read.
Sammy is a very determined girl who always looks at things in a new angle with a new perspective. The character traits that Wendelin gave the character Sammy, really brought the story to life. I’m kind of sad that there are only a few more books in this series, I’m going to miss reading about Sammy. So much better than Nancy Drew in my opinion.
The author of this book is also the author of Shredderman books
