Composting-The best way to throw away food and scraps

What is composting?

Composting is a better way of throwing away food, or scraps. It helps a lot with global warming. Composting turns foods and scraps into nutritious organic soil that plants eat.  If you want to find out more about composting, read more to find out!!

The process of composting

If you have to throw away food or scraps, you throw it away in a big compost bin. When you throw it away, millions of bacteria, fungus, and earthworms break down the composting into tiny pieces. Then, there will be this tumbler that you rotate. If you rotate the tumbler daily, then the composting will be done faster. Once everything turns into organic dirt in the compost bin, you take the dirt out to feed all of your plants. If you want to learn more about composting here are some useful links.

    How composting helps the environment

When you throw food in the trash, what happens is that this gas smell called methane comes into the food, because food has a lot of liquid inside it. When this happens, the planet starts heating up, which turns into global warming. But instead of throwing away if you compost, the effect of global warming actually reduces, which is good for the planet.

How can you help with composting?

40% of people help out by composting, so if you start today, you can start making the difference. Ask your mom or dad to get a compost bin, or if you already have one, use it now and tell me about it!  Most of the states and counties actually offer free compost bins which you can go and collect. Here is where you can collect the compost bin in Montgomery county.

I also recommend buying a small compost bin to keep in the kitchen so you don’t need to go out every time when you are cooking. The small compost bin will save you trips to the back yard compost bin. Every day or few times a week, you can take the smaller compost bin and dump it in the back yard compost bin.  My Parents bought the small compost bin in Amazon, there are quite a few options out there to explore.

Check this out, after few weeks, open the compost bin and see how hot it is … Think about why is it hot and comment below. If you can’t find out I will answer … 🙂

I hope you enjoyed my blog today! Remember, if you have a compost bin, do the process of composting to help the environment!!!
