Ever since they’ve been introduced to the world in 1904, rompers have gone in and out of fashion with their peaks in popularity being in the 1920’s, 1970’s and today. They were originally made for children (hence the similarity to “onesies”) because they look good, they’re comfortable, and they’re easy to play in. They were usually made of cotton, so if kids got them dirty, they were easy to wash. Later in the 20’s, rompers became popular with young women as well as children.
Now that our mini history lesson is over, let’s move on. Other than the reasons listed above, there are a couple more things that I love about rompers. First of all, it’s a combination between shorts and a blouse, so who wouldn’t like it? It saves you the hassle of trying to find a nice top to go with your shorts/skirt. Secondly, it looks just as good as a dress, but it’s more practical. For example, if you want to ride a bike, do gymnastics, or even do something as menial as bending over without having to awkwardly crouch down, you can do it (without having to flash anybody)!
My last and favorite thing about them is that they come in different styles and proportions to suit any body type so there’s no need to be self-conscious. You can look good and feel good in them. So the next time you go shopping you might want to consider getting one!
