To get some exercise during COVID, my family, friends, and I go on hikes every week or so. Sometimes the hikes are intense, and other times the hikes are peaceful. So, here are some hiking trails that we have gone on that you and your family and friends can go on!!
1. Raven Rocks Appalachian trail
The Raven Rocks Appalachian trail is a really intense but great hike to go on because you walk across the state border of Virginia into West Virginia. The trail is in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia, and usually it would take around 4 hours to finish excluding breaks, but if you bring younger kids it would take a little bit longer. Dogs are allowed to come on this hike, but make sure your dog has a leash. The only thing you would need to remember is to bring some food with you for food breaks and water. If younger kids are coming, make sure to bring first aid materials because this trail is really rocky and there’s a high risk of getting hurt and injured. At the end of the trail, you will see a cliff that has beautiful scenery.
2. Washington Monument via Appalachian trail
This Washington Monument Appalachian Trail is really nice because it is a clear pathway and you can see the Washington Monument, but not the one in DC, it’s a smaller one that was built by volunteers. This trail is in the Washington County in Maryland and if you go there, it would take around 4 hours finish, but it’s perfect for younger kids because of the clear pathway. Dogs are allowed on this trail. You would need to bring a lot of food and water if you go to this trail.
3. Billy Goat Trail Section C
The Billy Goat Trail Section C trail is a really strenuous hike, but a great workout. This trail is in Potomac, Maryland and if you go there, it will take you 2 – 3 hours, but if younger kids come it will probably take much longer. Dogs are not allowed on this trail. You would need to bring a lot of food for food breaks. In the middle of the trail, there will be a 40 foot drop in which you’ll have to be really careful.
Now that you know about these hikes, where would you want to go?
